An initial, non-refundable deposit will be secured at the time of booking confirmation. Accepted credit cards are Visa and MasterCard.
The balance, along with any applicable vehicle security bond, will be secured directly by the supplier on arrival.
The supplier requests a passport in addition to a credit card, with available credit and in the renter's name, must be presented. The signature on the back must match the name imprinted on the card. In addition, if the renter has an online transaction, the number and name printed on the card presented by renter must match the name and number stored for the online transaction.

An authorization on the credit card in the amount of $1000 will be taken at the time of rental. This authorization amount may be used toward damages of vehicles or late charges.
Debit/check cards are considered to be any non-credit card American Express®, MasterCard®, VISA®, Diners Club®, Discover® logo. Debit/Check cards are not accepted at this location.
Cash is not acccepted at this location.
In the event of cancellation the initial deposit paid remains non-refundable.
Collision Damage Waiver
Collision Damage Waiver–Theft Protection (CDW-TP) is not insurance. The purchase of CDW is mandatory and required in order to rent a vehicle.
You may purchase mandatory CDW-TP for an additional fee. If you purchase CDW-TP, we agree, subject to the actions listed on the rental agreement that invalidate CDW, to contractually waive your responsibility for all or part of the cost of damage to, loss or theft of the vehicle.
CDW-TP includes Primary Liability Insurance (PLI) and is mandatory unless renter's credit card has CDW coverage. In order to decline CDW-TP, proof of credit card coverage is required. If CDW-TP is declined, then PLI becomes mandatory.
A CDW deductible of $1000 and a TP deductible of $2000 apply. If CDW-TP is declined, renter is responsible for the full value of damage to the vehicle.

Third Party Liability
Primary Liability Coverage (PLI) The purchase of Primary Liability Coverage (PLI) is mandatory unless Collision Damage Waiver-Theft Protection is purchased.
PLI provides you with minimum financial responsibility limits as outlined in the applicable motor vehicle financial responsibility laws of the country where the vehicle is operated.
PLI covers Ambulance Service, Doctors, Hospitalization and Nurses for third parties with a maximum limit of $175,000 USD per event, or $70,000 USD per person. The PLI deductible is 20% of total damages to the third party property. PLI is only valid when rental vehicle is in Costa Rica.
Tire & Windshield Protection (TWP)
Tire and Windshield Protection (TWP)
Tire & Windshield Protection waives customer's liability in the event of damage to tires, windshield or windows.
· All additional drivers must meet all rental requirements.
· Additional drivers must appear at the rental counter with the primary renter.
· Additional drivers must sign the rental agreement.
· An additional daily fee may apply for any Additional Drivers.
The additional driver can only be added to the contract at the pick up location.
Minimum age to rent a vehicle is 21 and maximum is 75

Cross Border Policy
Unrestricted Driving in Costa Rica. Renters wishing to visit Nicaragua must prearrange at time of rental, for a vehicle exchange at the Costa Rica/ Nicaragua border. A three (3) day minimum notice is required. Customers can only rent the following vehicles- Mini vehicle, Compact vehicle, Compact SUV MCMR, CCMR & CFMR. Upon vehicle exchange at the border, the original agreement is closed and a second rental agreement is issued by Alamo Nicaragua (same rate is applied). A vehicle exchange fee totaling $50 USD is assessed; $25 charged by Costa Rica when the original agreement is closed plus $25 charged by Nicaragua when the new agreement is opened. When the renter returns to Costa Rica, the same process applies plus an additional $50 exchange fee. Renters not planning to return to Costa Rica must notify the rental location in Costa Rica when prearranging the vehicle exchange.
All one way rentals must be booked in advance and are subject to availability. One way charges apply and are payable at time of rental. One way charges cannot be prepaid.

As a customer, you have a choice as to how you would like to pay for fuel.
Option 1- Prepay Fuel
This option allows the renter to pay for the full tank of gas at the time of rental and return the tank empty. No refunds will be issued for unused gas. Pre-paid gas is available at 5% less than the local fuel prices
Option 2- We Refill
This option allows the renter to pay Alamo at the end of the rental for gas used but not replaced. Price per gallon will be higher than local fuel prices. A 50% surcharge will apply.
Option 3- You Refill
This option allows the renter to return the vehicle with a full tank of gas to avoid extra fuel charges.
GPS - $12.00 per day. There is a replacement fee of $350 if the GPS is damaged or not returned. Only available at San Jose International Airport and Liberia International Airport.

On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable.
If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
